Dear friends,
We, police officers from Timis County Police, Romania, want to inform you with concern and kindly ask for your support, that due to an unimaginable abuse of a chief commander, a very brave, dedicated and respected ,, brother in arms,, , police officer, Kovacs Valer, had been dismissed from Police without any chance to defend himself from a ,,such-called,, disciplinary investigation. In fact, a revenge of the managers of the employee for he declaimed the irregularities regarding the ineffective and dangerous equipping, the pressure of some managers to apply a large amount of fines regarding the situation generated by the Sars-Cov-2 virus, overall, a bad leadership against working conditions but also against the citizens civil rights.
This abuse against a whistleblower ( the police officer dismissed from the Police forces happens to be an union leader for the police rights, also) it was facilitated by our and yours (I hope) major concerns related to the recently changes brought, in a great and unimaginable rush, without any discussion with social partners ( as the law says) to the Law of the Police Statute 360/2002, according to which, any police officer can be applied the sanction of dismissal from the Police in just.. 7 days, without being able to exercise his right to defense, which is exactly our case. It all happened while our colleague was in sick leave ( in hospital) and he had no accession at all to the allegations/documents of the disciplinary investigation ( actually, 3 disciplinary investigations, at once, so to make him appear that is a dangerous for both institution and society, also).
Regardless the pandemic situation, this is not a democratic way, where the Regulations of the International Labour Organization, of the European, and even Romanian legislation which regulates the rights of the employee, such as fundamental values of transparency, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, freedom of work, equal opportunities and fair treatment in labor relations are ignored with such contemp.
We strongly ask you for your support for bringing the justice back in Kovacs Valer police officer case, and not only for him but for the situation of all whistleblowers in the Romania and Europa, as we all need and have the right to know, as consumers, the reality in our everyday lives, and if we do not protect such a brave people who speaks out and loud, as he did, we will live in darkness.
